HTFCSA Secretary change

Thursday 19th April saw the Hednesford Town FC Supporters Association Secretary Glyn Berrington stepping down from the role to be replaced by Carol Johnson.

Glyn will still hold his place on the committee and HTFCSA Joint-Chair’s Scott Smith and Mark Goodwin are eternally grateful for the support and valuable knowledge which Glyn has offered the HTFCSA over the course of the past 18 months.

In Carol, the HTFCSA has a perfect replacement and she will once again be a great addition to the committee after serving as Minutes Secretary for 12 months following the formation of the Supporters Association.

Outgoing HTFCSA Secretary Glyn Berrington commented, “It’s been an eventful 18 months or so. Relationships between the club and its fans had soured, with the departure of much-loved Manager Bernard McNally following immediately on from a super 3-0 win over promotion rivals Salisbury City causing much disquiet.

“Club Secretary Terry McMahon asked me how the damage could be repaired and, after consultation with numerous fans and an Open Meeting, it was agreed that the formation of a Supporters Association was the best way forward, to build bridges and get fans actively involved with the revival of the club, on and off the field.

“We’ve made a lot of progress since then in all areas and the base is now laid on which we can develop further. But the role of secretary has made major demands on what little spare time I have – I run a time-consuming business outside football and there are other pressures too – so the point has come where I have to step aside, although I will remain as actively involved in the Supporters Association as I can and will lend my full support to my successor.”
