Association XI Ready For Jubilee Clash

The Hednesford Town Football Club Supporters Association are playing their part in the Jubilee celebrations this Bank Holiday weekend, facing up to a Soldiers Club XI on Hednesford Park to entertain the watching crowds who will be attending the Diamond Jubilee celebrations on Saturday morning.

The match kicks off at 10am and, at last count, fourteen members of the SA will be in the squad which, with rolling subs, may just be enough to see them through the twenty-five minute each way match.

Joint Chairman, Scott Smith will be joining fellow Chairman, Mark Goodwin, Press Officer Chris Brewerton and fellow committee members Paul Parker, Gareth Davies, Jon Hawkins and Jas Singh among several other loyal supporters to proudly pull on the famous black and white of Hednesford Town for the first and, in all probability, last time.

He said, ‘The reaction to our request for players has been very impressive, we may not be the most athletic or skilful team but we can do our Club proud on the day. The fans can be sure that we will cover every blade of grass on that pitch for the badge. Rest assured there will be some tired legs out on the pitch as we enter the final forty minutes though! ‘

The match is part of a wider Jubilee celebration which will see Hednesford town centre and park a hive of activity with a number of different attractions, as well as an SA Stall to help advertise the football club throughout the community.
