Busy weekend for Pitman Pete

Hednesford Town’s mascot, Pitman Pete, flung himself into community events once again during the last weekend – partaking in three different appointments.

Friday afternoon saw him invited along to help present medals and trophies to the winning school teams from all around the district of Cannock Chase as they came together at Rugeley Leisure Centre.

The event was attended by over 200 pupils from a wide range of schools with Pete being on hand to help out.

Saturday saw the mascot attending two different events in the space of a few hours. Firstly, in the morning, he attended an open day at Longford Primary School before then making his way up to St Peter’s Primary School for their Summer Fete.

Pete was inundated with youngsters wanting their photograph taken with him at both events as he helped spread the word of the Pitmen.

Hednesford Town FC Supporters Association Chairman, Scott Smith, said: “It is great to see Pitman Pete getting out and about in the local area, fitting in three events over the course of one weekend.

“It’s nice to see how many youngsters actually recognise him and hopefully they and their parents will be at our friendly matches which start soon.”
