New Boots for Pitman Pete

Hednesford Town Football Club Supporters Association FOOT the bill
Pitman Pete, the mascot of Hednesford Town, has finally hung up his boots!

But never fear, this is not the end of his mascoting career. Far from it as Pete has been revitalised. Yes, his original pair of boots, which date back to 2002, had reached the end of their playing life. Worn out with years of pacing up and down the touchline, dented with dribbling and scuffed with shooting, those famous shoes have finally fallen apart.

But the Hednesford Town FC Supporters Association (HTFCSA) came to the rescue. Using the proceeds from a Race Night held in November, the HTFCSA have paid for a brand new pair. Following a nation-wide search, dating back to last July, a ‘made-to measure’ pair were commissioned. It has been worth the wait for just the right pair to fit Pete’s massive feet. Now there is no excuse for Pete to continue to dazzle us with fancy footwork for seasons to come.

HTFCSA Chairman, Scott Smith, said:

“We were delighted to be able to help Pete out in finding a new pair of boots through our fundraising – something that is no mean feat or should that be feet!

“Hopefully this means Pete can continue to welcome all the supporters who visit Keys Park, both young and old, and who knows this may well help him gain those extra few yards in the mascot race that he is looking to take part in again this year at Uttoxeter Racecourse.”
