Christmas Cheer For HTFCSA
The festive season got off to a great start when a sizeable representation from the Hednesford Town Football Club Supporters Association set up in Market Street in support of the Hednesford Town Christmas Lights Switch On.
Supported by Santa’s helpers, Paula Smith and cousin Mandy Pratt were driven on over the last few weeks to prepare hand-made tree decorations and various other seasonal treats.
Indeed, the stall itself looked a real treat, erected and decorated with the help of Paula’s and Mandy’s husbands Dave and Nigel. Paula’s friend Lesley Wilkes helped, with Sue and Tony Webb from the Supporters Association and their daughter Alice taking charge of accounts. Glynis Woodward ended up with glowing red knitting needles. Could anyone guess the birthday of knitted snowman Lily White? Her husband Colin had a red-hot throat through calling, “Guess the money in the jar!” Thanks too, to Paula’s Mum Shirley, for donating the contents of that jar.
All the helpers were sporting the Hednesford Town football shirts and the theme was kept running, thanks to Stan Freeman, for the back-drop of the Hednesford Town banner. Many supporters stopped by on the evening.
“Everyone played a great part, from making the gifts to fixing the generator,” said Paula, exhausted by the end of a very busy evening. “At one point, a reindeer’s nose fell off…” which leads to the question “So..how did he smell?” Answer….yes…. “Terrible.”
“The atmosphere was fantastic,” said Paula, “there were so many people thronging the streets of Hednesford, all out to have a good time.”
The HTFCSA will be selling off any remaining items at the Christmas Carol Concert on Monday, December 5th from 7pm, and ahead of the game against Warrington Town on Saturday, December 10th – 3pm kick-off.
