AFC Halesowen

28/10/09 - AFC Halesowen 'A' win Goals league at first attempt. AFC Halesowen 'B' win their first game of the season to finish 5th.

AFC Halesowen 'A' team won their last game of the season against Joga Kings to move above them and finish top of the Monday Night MLS Mini League. The score was 6-4 in a hard fought game that saw the best team run out winners on the night. The AFC Halesowen 'B' team also won their first game of the season by the same score against Ricketts FC.

The set-up on a Monday night is that there are 4 leagues and 6 teams in each league. As Goals is a new 5-a-side arena these mini league's were set up to see how good each individual team is over a 5 game league campaign. The aim then is to place each team into a league the Goals organiser’s best feel each team is suited. This new league set up starts this Monday (3rd November) and will consist of the Premiership, Championship, League One and League Two. AFC Halesowen 'A' have been placed in the Championship and the 'B' team in League Two.

But for the time being AFC Halesowen are champions of their current league, at the first attempt, and will be presented with a trophy and medals at a presentation evening at Goals this coming Friday (31st October). So before the new league starts, please have a look below at all the results from both teams and how the final league table looks:

30/09/09 - AFC Halesowen and AFC Halesowen Reserves start Goals league campaign with game against each other!

On Monday 29th September 2008 AFC Halesowen and AFC Halesowen Reserves both undertook their first game in the Goals Monday Night League, only to find they were to play each other. In a hard fought game, the First Team beat the Reserves 16 - 8. Top scorers for the First Team were John Stokes with 7 and Stefan Ashmore with 5 and the Reserves top marksmen were Ali Horton and Jack with 2 apiece.

The teams were chosen before the game, with one notable change made halfway through with Antony Crook changing at half-time to go from playing for the First Team to switch to the Reserves. Oh yeah, and Selfie was late (as usual) so replaced the First Team Goalkeeper at that point (Antony Crook) with the score being 7-3 to the First Team.

Team line-ups and scorers were as follows:

HTFC Halesowen Line-up
Paul Self (GK)

Dan Crook

Stephen Scott

Stefan Ashmore

John Stokes

Steve Grey

Antony Crook

HTFC Halesowen Reserves Line-up

Simon Slater
David Slater
Ali Horton
Max Jarrett
Jack
Physio (Rob)
B.J.

Final Score

AFC HALESOWEN 16 - 8 AFC HALESOWEN RESERVES

Stokes 7                                Horton 2
Ashmore 5                            Jack 2

Scott 3                                   Ant Crook

Grey                                       Physio (Rob)
                                               B.J.
                                               Jarrett

A fair result on reflection and with both the First Team and Reserves being in the same league, the season should be an interesting one as both teams attempt to win the league.

The league table will be up as soon as Goals get their rears in gear and post it up on their site.

22/09/08 - AFC Halesowen play first competitive match

On Sunday 21st September 2008 AFC Halesowen (the HTSA 5-A-Side team) played their first competitive game at newly opened Goals Football Centre in Rowley Regis, Warley.

This fixture was what is known as, a 'grading' game, so the centre can see how good (or bad, as the case maybe) each team is and then position each individual team in to the division they deem you should start in. Each game is 20 minutes each-way and each team is allowed 8 players per game (5 starting and 3 subs).

AFC Halesowen took to the field not knowing whether to throw the game (er, we wouldn't have...would we?!) or to just get on with it and play and just see where we are put. So we decided on the later...Que Sera Sera...and all in all the team put in a terrific performance against an opposition who meant business and even had a manager with a notebook and pen!!

The line-up and final score was as follows:

Players

Paul Self (GK)

Dan Crook

Stephen Scott

Stefan Ashmore

John Stokes

Ali Horton

Steve Grey

Max Jarrett

Final Score

AFC HALESOWEN 9 - 9 ‘Can't for the life of me remember the other teams name FC’

Ashmore 3

Scott 3

Stokes 2

Horton

The feeling after the game was that a draw was a fair result in a well fought out match, where the lead changed hands a number of times. AFC Halesowen were 3-1 up at one stage and 9-6 down in the last 5 minutes, before drawing level a minute before time.

We now await to see which league we will be placed in, but do know that this will be on a Monday evening. As we have a number of people wanting to play, we will be registering TWO teams on the same evening, the second being called AFC Halesowen Reserves. If you would like to be considered for a trial game for one of the teams, you firstly need to be a member of the HTSA and secondly need to contact Selfie (Paul) by email here: htfcsupportersassociation@hotmail.co.uk, who will get back to you ASAP.

All Fixtures, Results and League tables will appear here once the season starts...
