With Sweeney's arrival we have a Dan fine forward line.

I'll get me coat

Interesting names in the SCT line-up as they overturned recent poor form with a 4-2 win at Worksop

So can we assume Preston and Dodd have left?

Could be dual registered to give them game time.

Correct both have been dual registered in order to get them game time and minutes into their legs.

Again, the signings are underwhelming to say the least.

Interesting that Kyle Rowley is a centre back who likes the ball at his feet. I would rather have a centre back who likes to head the ball and kick it as far away from our goal as possible. All this playing out from the back doesn’t work in NL football. He is also a player we have had before who wasn’t good enough last time (like Lee Smith and George Cater, who are proving that they still aren’t good enough).
I’m sure the 16 year old lads will be there to warm the bench and nothing more, if they get that far.

I think sheriff’s negativity is rubbing off on me!

Any news on a new manager please or has KMR got the job already considering all the squad movements taking place.

Lee we already have a centre back like that and he is called Ben Bailey ;)

On a positive note , Sweeney is staying with us for the time being. I'm in agreement with Lee as far as the other news is concerned.

I don't think Flanagan has featured for Stratford this season.

Let's see whether these movements improve us.

I hadn’t seen the news about Sweeney and Flanagan when I last posted but yes, Sweeney is undoubtedly a match winner at this level and we need to hang on to him for as long as possible. I don’t know anything about Flanagan but by the looks of his previous clubs should hopefully be a decent addition.

Some comments from my Walsall supporting friends about Reece Flanagan:

“Yeah fans boo boy. Seemed to have good ability but not enough tenacity / physicality.”

“Okish. Bit lightweight, games seemed to just pass him by at times. But then Walsall would post videos of him scoring screamers in training and reserve games.”

It made sense to bring in Lee Smith and George Cater during the summer. Both having had good seasons with their previous clubs, hasn't worked out for Lee in terms of game time and he has moved on. After a handful of competitive games it remains to be seen if Cater will establish himself at this level, but he more than earned his chance. Everyone is entitled to an opinion!

But, moaning about Rowley before he has kicked a ball and posting someone else's criticism about Flannagan is beyond me. As for writing off two 16 year olds who are considered good enough to be in the first team squad, what is that opinion based on?

I posted the information about Flanagan because I have friends who support Walsall and I asked for their opinion, so that my fellow fans had something to go on. I would have posted it had they said he was brilliant too. I also said in an earlier post that he should be a decent addition but people generally only focus on the perceived negatives of people’s posts.
And I haven’t written off the 16 year olds. I said they will probably sit on the bench, that’s all, and they probably will. It’s very rare that 16 year olds are strong enough physically or get the chance to play first team football in Non-League.
I hope they all do well, so time will tell...

Apologies for focusing on the negatives in a post over flowing with positivity.

There was another post which was positive (Sweeney and Flanagan) but again you choose to ignore that one.

So, where are the positives Dave when you’re 19th in the league, struggle to score at one end and can’t keep them out of the other :-)

Fair enough Lee, we have not had the start anyone wanted. I really don't think we will be in danger of relegation though, I believe the club has the capacity to put right the current on field problems. The positives are in the bigger picture, starting with the fact that we still have a club. The owners are trying to build a sustainable club from bottom to top and are happy to engage with the supporters. A thriving youth academy that is already providing players capable of training with the first team squad. There will be bumps in the road but the club has a future to look forward to which is not something we could have said less than a year ago.

He was decent last time he was here, albeit a bit inconsistent...
