Just for jackiemaund....

Happy 60th birthday, legend!!

I've always rated great defenders highly, Evans and McNaught were Villa heroes (just as Lochhead, Little, Gray, numerous others and the 12 EC winners were) - add McGrath and Southgate who was my favourite player in his time there (though you can go off people) and you'll see why I'm loving Calum Flanagan this season (who also has a Villa pedigree, of course! :-D )

I wouldn't disagree with your views on some of those central defenders however in my time I go for the central defensive pairing of Chris Nichol(he of the goal at Old Trafford in the 2nd replay of the league cup final against Everton in 1977 in which Ken McNaught played for the opposition) and Ian Ross, they just complimented each other perfectly and if my memory serves me correctly our very own Gordon Lee,Heath Hayes born and bred was the Everton manager.
