Sorry sheriff, I hadn't checked when I posted mine, I didn't think anyone would have been as excited as me about the new season to start a thread so early. Clearly I was wrong!

Glover scored a goal every three games despite having poor luck with injuries so I'd be looking to keep him

13 Saturdays until the new season starts. At least we can reduce that to include the friendlies when the schedule is announced.

Come on - the new manager has only been in place for 11 days, you cannot expect any news yet!!

Silence is golden

Dan has been a brilliant goalkeeper for us over the years. He's never improved on his weaknesses though (kicking and indecisiveness to come for crosses) but his shot stopping ability has been second to none. All the best Dan, I have mixed feelings about him leaving but I won't be too concerned if we sign a 21 year old Dan Crane (you know what I mean).

I am pleased with Ballinger and Glover staying. I think Nadat deserves another chance, and Camps will add experience and a calm head (!). Martin and Nesbitt are young and will hopefully develop, but I didn't see anything in Cater to warrant wanting him to return.
Of the players who have definitely left, apart from mixed feelings about Crane I am happy with the decisions made as none of them are good enough for a play-off chasing team at this level (which is what I hope we are).
Wright and Clarke appear to have been offered terms and we are awaiting their decisions is what I gather from the press release. Whilst I commend Clarke on his workrate we need a goalscorer and he has proven that he is not it. I thought Wright was no better than average last season but no doubt his injury problems contributed to that, so I think he deserves another chance.

Hmmm I have to say I would only have retained 3 off that list, one being the excellent role model that is Tom Thorley. The remaining players didn't put any effort in last season so have not warranted another chance in my opinion. Hopefully we can get much more quality in for the rest of the squad because as it stands we will be kicking around the bottom 5.

Best of luck to dan and Lloyd for next season wherever you may end up.

the TBC list apart from Lewis the rest can go as for the retained list I'm not inpressed but the departure list is spot on
I would expect a bottom five finish so far, my opinion of course may change with new additions ;)

Thorley staying is massive, happy too to see Ballinger back. Rest of the retentions seem a decent base to build from.

People mentioning Phipps - he was at Paget Rangers for the closing months of last season so I'm unsure he's even our player. Perhaps someone in the know could clarify?

Players not on a contract can dual register with clubs in another league so it's difficult to know who is still part of our plans without official clarification

Delighted to see Thorley, Glover and Ballinger retained. They have proved that they are up to this level of football. Despite Mutton annoying the hell out of me when he left, I am prepared to welcome him back as he is a fine defender and will do well for us once again . Perhaps one of our other players will be giving him a lift to training and matches.
The jury is out on Nadat, Martin and Cater.
Of those on the TBC list I would only keep Phipps and Thompson. Wright is OK but I am sure there are better right backs out there. If the others stay then we will struggle.
Finally, and most importantly, a huge thank you to Dan Crane. He stuck with the club through thick and thin, earned us countless points with some brilliant saves and was a leading figure during our more successful days. Good luck for the future

Hednesford Town can today confirm the arrival of goalkeeper James Wren to Keys Park.

The former Sutton Coldfield Town shot stopper agreed terms with the Pitmen earlier today as he links up with his former boss in Neil Tooth.

The Hednesford manager said; “I am delighted to get James Wren on board and can’t wait to work with him again.

“I’ve been blessed during my time in football to have worked with some fantastic goalkeepers but James is by far and away the most talented I have worked with. As he is only 23 he will grow with the club and be a huge part of what we are aiming to achieve.

“We have beaten off some big clubs to get the deal done and I have no doubt he will become a fans favourite.”

The manager also praised departing goalkeepers Dan Crane and Lloyd Ransome.

He added; “I am disappointed to lose Dan Crane and Lloyd Ransome but totally respect and understand their decisions.

“I told them both I was signing James and Lloyd has been offered the chance to be a number one and play on a more regular basis – so we cant stand in his way. With Dan I was hoping he would stay and be part of the management set-up as well as competing for the shirt but he has decided that he still wants to concentrate on playing before moving into coaching and again I have to respect his wishes.

“I wish them all the best and would welcome both back to Keys Park with open arms.”
