It's possible Strangers didn't either. But it's a marathon.....

Stourbridge's home form is "interesting" as we head there for our next league game 7 days from now...

There's a much bigger match before next Monday and we dare not lose,we're desperate for a good cup run.

Only Lancaster remain unbeaten after just 5 games. This league could be very close this season.....

Now that the scorers have been added we can see that Sean Williams scored two penalties for Warrington.... and Matty Dodd scored for Strangers, apparently....

 :?

Playing local derbies on Bank Holiday Monday worked to some extent in drawing big (crows) , the one at Stafford exceeded by that at Scarborough.... but of course when you schedule Frickley v Chasetown as a "local derby" it won't always work...

Indeed... but this thread's about the League

We can maybe have that debate when the Boston P/R thread appears...

had a reply from FA about sh*t lane

Hi

As a newly promoted club to Step 3, they have until 31 March 2018 in order to obtain the FA’s C Grade – this is the same for any other club promoted from Step 4 this summer and is covered by FA Regulation:

“Step 4 - Clubs competing at Step 4 must comply fully with the requirements of Grade D. To be considered for promotion to Step 3 or to be included in the Play Off Matches, Clubs must meet the requirements of Grade D and attain Grade C by 31st March in the year following promotion.”

At the time of promotion, they were occupants of a ground that complied with the D Grade, although they have since left as the Rugby Club they were sharing with ended the agreement. Athersley Recreation offered the club a ground share and, other than for a few minimal improvements, the ground meets the D Grade. Work is being carried out for this to be rectified.

Regards

Matt

Fixtures:

(The biggest game tonight is actually at Scarborough, since it could set up a Mickey Mouse Cup game beteen Whitby and Scarborough when I'm up there, just a shame they couldn't fix it for it to be at Scarborough's new ground.... )

Stourbridge beat Barwell 2-1 tonight and Tom Tonks has returned to the club after being part of the Solihull circus.

Interesting...

http://www.evostikleague.co.uk/dream-re ... onks-39631

So that's his 3rd spell with them then.... Ryan Rowe's in about his fourth and McCone about his fifth, must be something about the place. Since, as we've mentioned several times, only Carline of the four who went to Moors from us seems to be featuring regularly these days, I wonder how long the other three will stay there, and whither next...

I see that the prolific Perry got Barwell's goal

McCone - 4th (although the second was a mere two-game stop-off between leaving Leamington and joining you. I think it was mutually beneficial as Leamington wouldn't release him to move direct to you, and we had an injury crisis in defence!)
Rowe - 3rd (although the 2nd was a half-season loan from Kiddy)
Tonks - 3rd
Broadhurst - Technically 3rd, although the 1st was only a game or two as a comparative toddler
Dodd - 2nd (obviously)

We're not unique in players returning. How many spells have Wellecombe and Melbourne had with you? Crane was with you more than once, and Bailey has just rejoined you. Plus macca had at least two spells.

One, two, two, two, one in that order.

McCone has definitely had two spells with you. He left you to come back to us in Oct 2014, lasted about six weeks and then went back to you.

Melbourne has had three spells according to your website.

The serious point is that every club at this level has a few players who have returned two or three times for whatever reason. I could have added Benbow to our list as well (two... and counting???). It can be a good sign - players feeling happy and comfortable at a club, manager knowing the player can/will perform. But not necessarily - manager lacks contacts/network to discover new players?

We've had some successes second time round - Benbow for one. We've had some flops too.
