We may yet see Scott in his shorts again before winter arrives...

They made sure they crocked our best player Jed Davies just before half time. He, along with James Wren, who kept the score from being 9-0, are the only players to come out of the game with any credit.

I have no words for the rest of them.

Today was a utter disgrace absolutely no idea how to defend they stood and watched as Mickleover played around them when will we learn to tackle not watch it's a good job there are maybe enough poor quality teams to save us as it stands the future looks bleak

Well done again to those that made the effort to travel to Mickleover and watch yet another poor display away from home. Must be pretty soul destroying .

Spot on mate.

I don't really want to talk about it, but having just read the updates thread before this (I'm a glutton for punishment), I'll just pick up on a few comments...

a) Northwich 0-8 came to my mind during the game too. This was as embarrassing as any game has been since then (thankfully lifestyle/work commitments prevented me from being at Coleshill last season or Coalville this, there must be some poor souls who have been at all four...)

b) Talked to one long-term fan before the game about James Wren and how many goals he conceded against us last term. But he again showed yesterday that he can be brilliant yet still on the wrong end of five goals (should have been six, could have been ten)

c) There are at least three players in yesterday's starting eleven who aren't good enough for this level. The others just had a collective bad day (Davies excepted), and we can't afford for any more than one player to be doing that. I hope that they're as embarrassed as we were and rediscover both that "excellent team spirit" about which we heard before the game, and some fighting spirit, very quickly

d) The ref and stand-side lino were almost as bad as us. (But it's not their fault we got stuffed...) - if anyone is brave enough to watch the highlights, see the 44th-minute challenge on Davies (right in front of me) and explain to me how the ref neither even spoke to the assailant (yellow card at least, possible red) nor called for the physio. The lad was left to just nurse his wounds, asking the lino "how long left?" to see if he could make it to half-time alive

e) I mentioned several times in various texts that Pablo Mills at one end and Clinton Morrison at the other were running the game (and reffing it in the former case, as is his wont). MS showed experience and street-wisdom way beyond ours (eg standing on every free-kick we got, the ref had no idea what they were doing)

So, there are the problems. Solution, move another three players out and find six experienced players who are free to join us mid-season and play with commitment and an end-product.

Simple, eh Rob....

  :|

Oh, and finally, I listened to "Who's Next" (very loud!) on the way there and back. What a phenomenal album it is. And how apt (one fan said to me late in the first half about one player "he must be the next cab off the rank....")

And quite right too.

Slagging off your players in public isn't a good idea to boost morale; and likewise when we win telling the world how good they are might breed over-confidence.

Some photos here, proving that we did at least have some attempts on goal (including one ruled out for offside, debatable....)

Thanks as ever Dan, I don't have time to watch them this evening, I'll do that with breakfast in the morning and hope they don't prove to be an emetic

By the way folks, for those who weren't there, Dan deserves a medal for scaling a very non-H&S ladder to the gantry. You wouldn't get me up on one of those things!

Stopped watching after the fourth goal. As with Stourbridge, we don't seem capable of handling purposeful , direct teams that run at us. The midfield is unable to stem the flow and the back four are pedestrian and can't cope with decent movement.

In contrast we attack slowly and get eased of the ball time and again . Some players seemed to be hiding and leaving it to team mates to get a foothold in the game.

Doesn't get any better on second view - I wonder if any team has ever conceded possession so easily, lost so many 50/50 challenges and been so inept at finishing?

Some of the Pitmen contingent must have realised the game was up at half-time, they stayed behind the goal we were defending for the second half...

One MS fan said after the lad has wasted their (somewhat dubious, but it wasn't worth arguing...) penalty, "he shouldn't have taken it really, he's not a natural finisher...." - indeed, he'd only scored two goals before that....
