Tom Fry, Charlie Gatter, Izak Reid and Ben O’Hanlon will not be back next season:

http://www.hednesfordtownfc.com/2020/05 ... rg-stadium

I thought Fry and O’Hanlon were poor. I liked Reid and he can play in every position but that is to his detriment as he can never settle. I liked Gatter too but wonder whether he is as committed to his football as he used to be with his success in his day job.
I’m expecting more of last season’s squad to leave as with new owners we might at least be shopping at Aldi instead of Poundland this time around...

O'Hanlon has loads of talent, played for England age group sides until quite an advanced age. He looked brilliant when I first saw him for us at Buxton at left back. He never really made his mark though, was played out of position in midfield (in my opinion) a lot. A shame.

Charlie Gatter? Everyone's got opinions, but he's been on the fringes for a while and I don't see him in a top team at Step 3.

Don't think Ben O'Hanlon looked the same player after he came back from injury, he'll probably go to Buxton :) Izak Reid was a victim of his own versatility which meant he couldn't nail down a place of his own, can consider himself a bit unlucky I think.

As long as we have apostrophes in the right place in Press Releases, and no ampersands where the word "and" should be used, I'm happy with whoever we sign or release...

;) :-D

Please let's not start this squad list thingy again. It's the most boring pointless exercise.
Get Rid.

No! :(

Just trying to be helpful so people have an idea of who we have/had ... and who might be remaining/leaving or already have left.

The list should be empty then as of the end of last season, if and when players are re-engaged put them on the list then.

The list was to inform people who we had last season! You have caught the dreaded COVID-pedantic virus!

Current Playing Squad: (just for you)

Nothing official that I have seen just an intimation that he was.

I'd take it as a definitely maybe on Danny and Ben from AM's first interview so I'd fully except them to be part of the first wave of confirmed players for 20/21:

"Danny Glover is keen to stay, I think he did a good job and got some good results under difficult circumstances. He is keen to pursue his coaching career and he will continue as a coach and interim assistant for the time being. Danny is a great player, I tried to sign him when I managed Tamworth, and I have told him I want 40 games and 20 goals from him!"

"Ben Bailey has been exceptional for the club and with the level of experience that he brings I am happy that he too is keen to stay on."

Some people on this form get their knickers in a twist on what’s official and what isn’t though Chris :-)

As it stands then, Del’s list is correct. I have reproduced it below for the avoidance of doubt.

2020/21 squad

I am delighted with the signings of Danny Glover and Andy Wycherley.

With strikers of the quality of Andy Morrell and Danny Glover coaching our forward line we should be belting in the goals next season, and after a more-than-dodgy start Andy Wycherley had proved himself an excellent goalkeeper at this level by the end of his loan spell with us last season.

A good start to the recruitment process. Glover's goals and commitment to the club are important to the continuity of the side and getting Wycherley to sign a one-year contract is a ringing endorsement of his potential; if he hits the ground running, safe in the knowledge he isn't going to be farmed out on loan within a few games like at Telford and Solihull, he could get the scouts flocking to KP. Looking forward to the next batch of names after this opening salvo

Fair to say, from line one of the Wycherley Press Release, that we're excited about it.

And I'm loving the new name for Telford United....

Just one word of caution on fine players coaching the next generation - John Terry, one of the best centre-backs of the Premier League era, coaches at Villa. Did you see their defending last season? (or is it "this season"?)

;)

Ben Bailey and Rhys Thompson signed up for next season. Ben is a legend and deserves his testimonial season and although I only saw Rhys once, he played well and scored a great team goal at Redditch.

Line 6, clubs' should be club's

I understand press releases are no longer being proofread. That's a pity.

It matters to the standing of the club if you want it to look well run and professional.
