Thanks Lee.

I think that means we get the "top end", based on the last segregated game I went to there...

I'm intrigued, they think we're 2nd in the table, the OS League Table says we are, yet we keep saying we're 3rd. Are we trying to play down expectations?!

Or do the League think that "AFC Rushden and Diamonds" begins with an "r"?!

Might be the Staffordshire sun going to my head, but we've put together a proper side here.

Arrived at the ground in stifling heat, entered thru the bottom turnstile and was then threatened by one of their stewards for mixing in with the home supporters.
Segregation so it appeared I was escorted round the ground to the pen behind the top goals.
We were all locked in like animals in a cage.
I thought we had stopped treating humans like this after Wilberforce!
There again this is Tamworth what should I expect.
After Just a few minutes it soon became apparent that this surface was going to be difficult to play on.
It was no were near the standard of the new G5 at Buxton.
That apart they had the early play but never really threatened and gradually we gained a foothold on the game.
Not that much to report on in the first half one goalmouth scramble resulted in Platt making a good save and that apart it finished more or less even.
Having taken in plenty of liquid at half time we started to look the better time with Abadaki looking really dangerous with his quick breaks and Bailey a colossus at the back.
We gradually got on top and after several efforts a ball to the far post was handled by one of their defenders and Truslove obliged from the spot.
I thought Tamworth might then start the push forward but apart from dangerous run and crosses down our right they never looked like getting an equaliser.
The extra time seemed like a lifetime but eventually the whistle went and we had secured a terrific win played in really difficult conditions how they kept going for 100 minutes I’ll never know.
Man of the match Shared between Bailey and Abadaki.
Officials just passable it least he gave us the pen!
Supporters absolutely terrific got behind the team right from the off.
I would have a decent bet the players will sink a few pints tonight and I don’t blame them.
So third in the table with the Needham Markets coming to us on Saturday who knows we might be top after that!

Not the best performance in terms of quality but no doubt the heat had plenty to do with that. I thought the first half was even but we shaded the second. We showed a little more quality on the ball than they did and although I missed the incident that led to the penalty (I was at the burger van) it was great to see the ball go in and the lads get through to the end for the win. We defended well when we needed to and Bails was immense. Well done to all the lads and the management team, we have a great team spirit and it should take us far.

I seldom post opinion these days but just to add (to previous reviews with which I largely agree) how good it was when the penalty was awarded, with Glover having gone off, that there was absolutely no doubt who was going to take it; Truslove made it his and hit a superb penalty.

"Bigger clubs" note, that's the way to do it.

Looking forward to the highlights to see the bits you can't see from behind the goal (I commented early on it was like being on the Archers Road end at The Dell, back in the day; anything below waist height near our goal-line, no chance of seeing it...)

I too made Bailey MotM with Abadaki a close second; but special merit award to their car park attendant who, at 1430ish when I arrived, was clad in shirt, hoodie and hi-vis vest. I did suggest he might be over-dressed. Volunteers remain the lifeblood of the game...

Thanks for the highlights Dan.

The move leading to the penalty was the one moment of true class in the game so we deserved it for that alone; good job the lino flagged for it, wonder if the ref would have seen it?

Anyone else remember when "coaching from the touchline" was an offence?

It’s been a long time since we won a league game at Tamworth.

I’ve been supporting the Pitmen for 20 years and I don’t think we’ve won a league game away at Tamworth in all that time until last week. Does anyone know the last time?
